quick tutorial for making gifs:
code for steps 2 and 3 here
1. render the clip you want to make a gif of
2. using ffmpeg, create a colour palette for the gif you're about to make
3. take this colour palette and convert it to a .act file (photoshop's colour table)
4. in photoshop, use File > Import > Video Frames to Layers to import the clip
5. export using File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy)...
6. in the drop-down above the colour table, click Load Color Table...
7. locate the .act file created earlier, load it
8. mess with the Lossy compression and Dither amount to get the gif size below 15 MB (for uploading to twitter)
